Welcome to the Trojan Records official website and forums
Reaction to the news that a serious collection of Millie's work is finally to see issue has been overwhelmingly positive and we're aiming to ensure it will do justice to her work, both aurally and visually. With this in mind, we're still very much on the look-out for high res scans of any memorabilia or records released by Jamaica’s First Queen Of Ska.
So far we’ve received some fantastic scans of her ultra-rare 1964 WIRL LP, ’The Most Of Millie And The Boys‘ from Charles LaRocco @ lotsofrecords, some great images of her Trojan records from Kevin and Stephen Nye, the highly sought-after Mayfair magazine in which she made her famous appearance in 1970, loaned to us by Chris Wheal, and jpegs of some fascinating European picture sleeves supplied by Spanish collectors, Paloma & Pedro García (Cool Club DJs). Meanwhile, on the way is a disc of images from a 1964 article featured in US Teen Screen magazine from John Vaccaro at top-notch on-line Ska Fanzine, ‘Hoi Polloi’ (HPSKA.COM).
Of course anything else relating to the singer is most welcome, particularly articles from the sixties, scans of many of her Island, Fontana, President and Decca singles, the cover and sleeve of the 1965 ‘Sings Fats Domino’ collection, plus any of her singles sung in another language.
As usual, please send any correspondence to us at trojanwebsite@googlemail.com.
